Referring to last week’s mention of Finland’s single Eurovision win thus far, here is our sole winner.
Back in 2006, we sent in Lordi. This broke the Eurovision. At the time, they won by a record number of points.
It’s the only year I didn’t watch the event live on TV. I was busy attending a Bon Jovi concert. Walking out of the stadium afterwards with my sister, a girl walking next to us and talking on the phone asked the person at the other end who had won the Eurovision, then in a surprised tone, repeated, “Finland?” My sister and I looked at each other before checking our phones, only to discover dozens of excited text messages informing us that this was indeed the case.
Maybe I should try not watching it again one year.
